Updating open office in ubuntu
Many former Windows users miss having an office suite on GNU/Linux that matches Microsoft Office in functionality and compatibility.
Before proceeding to the Open Office 3.2 installation (from its website), please note that there are quite a few differences between this version of Open and the Open version from the Ubuntu repositories!
Like I said above, Ubuntu uses an optimized version of Open called OO-Go. If you want to install Go-OO (from it's official website, not Ubuntu repositories) 3.2 in Ubuntu, see: How To Install Go-OO 3.2 In Ubuntu Linux.
Open Office is one of the most popular, open-source, cross-platform, Office Suite, available for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X systems.
Nowadays Ubuntu/Linuxmint comes with Libreoffice pre-installed. So if you need to use Openoffice you have to install it manually.
These tools are more than enough to duly and easily replace all the applications from other office suites such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
