Potassium argon dating problems
The science of anthropology is divided into two major disciplines, physical anthropology and cultural anthropology. Each of these is basically an independent science, although specialists in one field frequently consult and cooperate with scholars in the other. To date a radioactive rock, geologists first measure the “sand grains” in the top glass bowl (the parent radioisotope, such as uranium-238 or potassium-40).
From what i have read, The accuracy of carbon-14 dating is very controversial. it is also based upon decaying potassium into argon gas and the rate of decay. Interestingly, dating a substance with both K-AR and C-14 sometimes produces dates that are a hundred million years apart.
It relies on many assumptions that we cannot prove.
Physical anthropology is generally classified as a natural science, while cultural anthropology is considered a social science.
Physical anthropology is concerned with the biological aspects of human beings.
The results can be as much as 150 million years different from each other! They then pick the date they like best, based upon their preconceived notion of how old their theory says the fossil should be .
